Finance minister: Russia has no plans to leave EBRD
SOCHI, Sep 30 (PRIME) -- Russia is not considering leaving the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Finance Minister Anton Siluanov told PRIME on Friday.
“No,” he said.
In 2014, EBRD shareholders recommended the bank abstain from any new projects in Russia after the West introduced economic sanctions against the country. In July 2016, media reported that the Russian authorities has asked the bank saying that the decision contradicts the bank’s charter. The bank’s shareholders found no such contradictions.
On Wednesday, several sources familiar with the matter told PRIME that the EBRD’s board of directors considered a restart of investments in new projects in Russia, but no decision is possible yet.
